01 / ABOUT THE PLACE

About this place

The croissants make an impression with their delicate, crisp layers, spreading aroma of butter and soft, airy centres. In the residential streets of Tabata-Shinmachi, 和賀屋 ベーカリー&パティスリー brings together proper breads for breakfast or a snack and a display case of inviting pastries.

For a more substantial lunch, the generously sized sandwiches and burgers are worth a look. The baguette sandwich is a satisfying meal in itself: a chewy, pleasantly substantial baguette packed with grilled vegetables such as lotus root, aubergine and pumpkin. Other savoury options are shaped around the character of their bread: a croissant sandwich where the fillings meet the richness of butter, a burger made with sesame bread, and a savoury burger combining chicken and burdock root.

The patisserie side of the shop is just as appealing, with a good selection of cream-filled choux pastries, éclairs and tarts. Apple and pear tarts pair fragrant, crisp bases with the flavour of the fruit, while large macarons sandwich a rich ganache. There is plenty to choose from when you want to take your time over something sweet.

There is also a small, greenery-surrounded seating area inside, where you can enjoy purchased bread or cake with coffee. The bakery is open four days a week—Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday—from 11:00 to 19:00. Payment options include credit cards, various code-based payment services and transport IC cards, making it an easy stop for lunch or an everyday treat.
